Khustup Mountain is easily one of the most recognizable and dramatic views in Armenia in the Syunik region and this guide details a new guesthouse that you need to stay in when there – Khustup Guesthouse.
Situated in one of the most stunning villages in the region called Verin Vachagan, Khustup Guesthouse is the ideal getaway for those needing a city escape or a hiking break.
Two young local entrepreneurs, Erik and Ashot, founded Khustup Guest House Խուստուփ Հյուրատուն to help hikers and travelers who are planning reach the top of the Khustup to stay in a nice family-owned house and get ready for their exciting adventure.
Verin Vachagan is located approximately 6 kilometers away from Kapan city center and taxis can reach the village within ten to fifteen minutes.
About Khustup Guesthouse
Khustup Guesthouse opened less than a year ago and survived the odds despite COVID-19 and the war. It initially hosted refugees during the war and has now opened for hikers and guests.
The founders, Erik and Ashot, were raised in Verin Vachagan and after they came back to the village after their Army service, they realize the town had become even more isolated and needed development. Along came Khustup B&B!
We were completely impressed with the views, modern appeal, and everything the guesthouse had to offer. It truly is one of the most exciting places to stay in Armenia, in our opinion!
The guesthouse can host 15-20 people and also tent travelers (around 8). Breakfast is included and dinner/lunch is available for an upcharge. They have free laundry, wifi, showers and hot water, and a BBQ pit (must provide your own food).
In addition, they have solar panels, toiletries for guests, and more. Dogs are permitted if they are well-behaved… but please beware, there are cats, ducks, chickens, and many other animals.
All food is local and eco-clean and I can not imagine a better place to drink your morning coffee! There is a large terrace that overlooks the beautiful, green mountains and valleys.
One of the best things about Khustup Guesthouse is that they offer tours! They have horseriding tours and car tours to the mountain. Together with People in Need Armenia, they purchased an off-roading vehicle for these tours (as well as beds, camera, tents, fridge, solar panels, and more).
They also have a vodka distillery on-site where you can learn to make your own homemade vodka.
If you’re looking to reach Khustup Guesthouse from Kapan, they will provide a transfer service for an additional price.
This guesthouse is truly out-of-this-world. If you’re hiking Khustup or need a Legends Trail pit-stop, be sure to head there! You can inquire about rates and availability via their Facebook page.
