In the book of Anabasis, Xenophon writes that beer in Armenia was produced in the 5th century BCE. You can read more about it on Wikipedia.

After many centuries, just like any beer-loving country, Armenia developed its own beer culture. Sometimes, that culture was lost, but in the past 100 years, especially during the Soviet Union, Armenia started to make beers like Kilikia Beer, Kotayk, and Gyumri Brewery.

About Yerevan Beer Days and Date

Since many small craft beer companies have also started to make their beer in recent years, the idea of a beer festival in Yerevan was born in 2021 to help local beer makers gain much bigger recognition and show the Armenian beer brewing traditions.

What to Expect at Beer Festival in Yerevan

Yerevan Beer Festival is divided into 5 different zones:

  • Beer zone (local beer company’s products)
  • Food zone (BBQ, Armenian, and international food)
  • Master class zone (how to make beer and learn more about it)
  • Music and game zone (live bad performances)

At the festival, you will learn how beer was made in Armenia many centuries ago. You will also get familiar with local beer producers and their wide range of productions.

Without food like traditional Armenian khorovats (BBQ), no festival will take place, so at the festival, you will taste both traditional Armenian and international dishes.

At the game zone, you can play some interesting and fun games while listening to local bands performing on the main stage.
