I’m just going to say that Armenia doesn’t get enough credit for its cuisine. When people think of delicious food in the Caucasus, their minds drift to other countries, not Armenia. But I beg to differ.
As an Armenian myself, I have found Armenian food to be my favorite for several reasons, such as the fresh ingredients, the fact that it is less oily, and the generous portions. I also think that Yerevan’s restaurant scene is highly underrated, and one of the best things to do in Yerevan is EAT.
So, without further ado, I have put together a guide to the best restaurants in Yerevan, Armenia.

Best Restaurants in Yerevan
1. Gata Tavern
In the heart of Yerevan, you will find the popular traditional Armenian restaurant Gata Tavern, which I visit quite often while finding new and interesting things to do in Yerevan.
This must-try restaurant in Yerevan combines Armenian food, experiences, and culture in a setting that showcases Armenian hospitality!
Gata Tavern is not just a restaurant, but it is also a bakery where it is possible to witness (and then consume!) Armenia’s beloved dessert, gata.
You can see the process of how it is created – from the preparation to the baking and you can also learn more about the history of the sweet treat.
Address: 22 Tumanyan St, Yerevan
2. Sherep Restaurant
Located in the heart of Yerevan next to Republic Square next to one of the most popular hotels in Yerevan in the pink building originally designed by Alexander Tamanian Sherep Restaurant is one of the most popular recently opened restaurants in Yerevan that hosted Michelin star chefs from many countries.
The restaurant menu is rich with dishes from different countries and of course the best dishes of the local Armenian cuisine.
The restaurant’s kitchen is open and the visitors can see how the fresh and delicious dishes are made at the end of the venture is an open “ Tonir ” (traditional bakery) where you can see how Armenia lavash and other bread are getting baked.
If you are a soup lover, as a recommendation I can offer you a very unique Armenian soup which is not a super popular one, and not every place is possible to try it called “Nraneh” a soup made of pomegranate juice.
Note: Try to make a reservation before visiting.
Address: Amiryan 1 St, Yerevan
3. Lavash Restaurant
The last time I was in Yerevan, I searched for the best restaurants there, and Lavash immediately appeared high on every list as one of the top places to eat in Yerevan.
I tend to be lazy about tracking down places to eat, so I was really stoked when I walked past it one day.
I immediately turned around to go inside, eat, and see what it was all about. The atmosphere is what initially won me over.
Lavash Restaurant is an eclectic mix of modern and traditional. Once inside, you will see a glassed room with women making traditional lavash which is pretty cool for those who have never witnessed the process before.
The food is also outstanding. I was there in April, and I decided to go against the seasonality of produce and order Ghapama, a Christmas and Armenian winter specialty.
I’ve enjoyed every last bite and am glad I finally went to try it. Nevertheless, Lavash has several Armenian dishes worthy of being ordered. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Yerevan.
Address: Tumanyan 21, Yerevan
4. Katsin
Katsin is a restaurant known for its exceptional food quality and dining experience, and for serving one of the most delicious coffees in Yerevan. One of Katsin’s attractive features is definitely its luxurious and stylish interior, which creates a lavish ambiance.
Katsin has two floors; the first one is very spacious and perfect for celebrating special occasions, while on the second floor, you can enjoy unique cocktails in Yerevan with friends on a Friday night.
You will certainly appreciate the professional service, the lovely ambiance, and the quality of every meal. You can expect to enjoy a wide variety of delicious meals, from sushi and full-size octopus on a tray to steak and marinated duck meat on a grilled potato.
Address: 4, 6 Amiryan, Yerevan
5. Dolmama
One of the most famous restaurants in Yerevan is Dolmama where it’s possible to try Armenian traditional tolma. It is well-known not only in Yerevan but also abroad, as it has even opened a location in Moscow and Dilijan.
Dolmama opened in 1998, and its mission was to showcase Armenia’s delectable cuisine to hungry and curious patrons. The focus isn’t necessarily Western Armenian food, as that is a little bit more well-known, but rather to deliver Eastern Armenian food.
Dolmama has hosted several celebrities and stars over the years and it definitely is worthy of the praise it deserves. I have eaten there a few times over the years and never once left with any criticism or lack of desire to return.
Dolmama was also featured on Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown where System of a Down’s lead singer Serj Tankian took Tony there.
Address: 10 Pushkin Street, Yerevan
6. Charentsi 28
Finally! I get to list my favorite place in Yerevan. From local food experiences in Yerevan, this is definitely a local favorite, and my friends have even taken me there, thinking I hadn’t heard of it.
I had the delight of eating there on several occasions, where it’s possible to find not only traditional dishes but also vegan and vegetarian options in Yerevan.
I have had quite a few things off of their menu from labneh to an Indian curry, but this simple salad with sumac and crispy lavash was my go-to.
At Charentsi 28, you will find a terrace in the back that is relaxing and quiet and even offers a view of Ararat on clear days. The interior is unpretentious and downright feels like you’re in someone’s home.
They also have a nice wine menu. I can’t get enough of Charentsi 28 and am eager to get back to Yerevan to eat there again!
Address: Charentsi 28, Yerevan
7. Wine Republic
Another place I have eaten at a couple of times is the Wine Republic. It is situated by the Cascades Complex and is one of the most consistently delicious restaurants in Yerevan, in my opinion.
Everyone I have recommended to go there has thoroughly enjoyed themselves. You can seriously get some of the tastiest wines there but the food is just sensational.
I have always ordered salads or something along those lines there, but recently I tried their other dishes, and the Thai food there is the best I have ever had outside of Thailand.
I feel like my life has changed knowing this information, and I am pretty sure I’ll be planting myself there next time I’m in Yerevan for a couple of days.
If you are a wine lover, you need to visit the Yerevan Wine Festival and experience one of the best local wine tastings in Yerevan.

8. Kamancha
The cozy and welcoming Kamancha restaurant is located in the heart of Yerevan, and I visit it quite often. It is known for its rich, diverse, and interesting menu, charming atmosphere, impeccable service, live music, and dances.
Here you can enjoy complete Armenian and Caucasian cuisine perfected by the chef’s special touches. Must-try masterpieces are veal with grilled veggies, dolma, and delicious barbecue.
The lovely atmosphere is guaranteed here for perfect family evenings. The inside area has a unique interior design and allows you to enjoy the cooking and bread-making process in the kitchen up close.
There is also a small outdoor area where you can take in the stunning evening views of Yerevan while enjoying your dinner.
Address: 23 Tumanyan, Yerevan
9. Caucasus Tavern (Kavkaz)
This restaurant is one of the many traditional-style restaurants in Armenia. I’m not a huge fan of this type of interior, but many travelers are because they want to see real taverns. The food here is pretty solid and they are open long hours (I’ve even eaten there later at night).
The drinks are affordable and the menu is pretty extensive and as the name suggests, they specialize in food from the Caucasus.
I’ve had pretty much everything at this restaurant, from sweet sujukh (sharots) and eggplant salad to every type of grilled meat, including homemade apricot vodka, and it’s all been good.
Address: 82 Hanrapetutyan, Yerevan
10. Machar Restaurant
Machar is a small and cozy corner that offers an amiable atmosphere for friend and family gatherings. The indoor area has a small corner with goods from Artsakh and is filled with authentic antique things that will make the perfect background for a stunning photoshoot.
The restaurant is rich with local cuisine (including delicious Artsakh dishes) as well as Mediterranean and Eastern European cuisine.
Taste the appetizing “jengyalov hac” (bread with greens), baklava and gata made in Artsakhian style, and colorful berry tart, and we promise you will be shocked by its unforgettable flavors.
Address: 5 Alexander Spendiaryan, Yerevan
11. Ktoor
Experience the perfect harmony between the old and new in Ktoor restaurant. A Mouth-watering combination of flavors in huge portions will make you want to revisit this place.
The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor areas. There you can enjoy Armenian as well as Eastern European cuisine.
The unique dishes that I offer include tabbouleh wrapped in basturma, tolmanchi pideh, and a large mixed barbeque wrapped in puffy lavash that is served on fire.
A welcoming ambiance, fast and high-quality service, and delicious food; what else do you need for a perfect dining experience? In case you leave something on your table (which is less likely), the friendly and professional staff will wrap everything for you for takeaway.
Address: 5 Alexander Spendiaryan, Yerevan
12. Cascade Royal
Easily one of the best restaurants in Yerevan for a view over the city, Cascade Royal is a popular spot for locals and travelers at the top of the Cascades in the Armenian capital.
The dishes range from Armenian to European to Asian, but all are made exquisitely and with precision.
The drink menu is extensive and has offerings that cater to every customer regardless of whether or not they love wine, cocktails, or beer.
There is also a children’s playroom available. Cascade Royal is one of the best restaurants in Yerevan and once you get to check out the views there, you will be happy you stopped by. There is a dress code; so dress like you’re important.
Address: 192 Antarayin Street, Yerevan
13. Anteb
Anteb is another centrally-located cozy corner that will amaze you with its Western Armenian and Mediterranean cuisine. If you are a fan of spicy food, then this is the place to go.
The best manti in Yerevan, lahmaju (Yerevan street food), and shish taouk are a few of the delicious must-try meals I recommend for you. Vegetarians will also love this place for its wide variety of vegetarian options.
People with a sweet tooth can try baklava, which is served with an extra honey topping that will guarantee a delicious experience. The compact area, high-quality service, great ambiance, and delicious food make up the perfect atmosphere for family gatherings.
Address: 30 Yeznik Koghbatsi, Yerevan
14. Dalan Art Gallery and Restaurant
Dalan is a real hidden gem tucked behind a handmade gift shop in the center of Yerevan. Both the restaurant and the shop are in a 19th-century house, making it one of the unique restaurants in Yerevan offering real old Yerevan vibes and, of course, delicious Armenian cuisine.
First, you are going to enter the souvenir shop, which leads you to the backyard with one of the most cozies the cafés in Yerevan.
If the latter is closed, make your way upstairs, where you will find the authentic restaurant to the left and the art gallery to the right.
The restaurant has menus for one of the best breakfasts in Yerevan, lunch, and dinner, and is rich with must-try gems of Armenian cuisines, such as tolma, lahmajou (Armenian pizza), barbecue, ishli qufta, ishkhan (Sevan trout), etc.
Address: 12 Abovyan St, Yerevan
15. Babylon
If you want to taste part of Iraqi culture in Yerevan, then Babylon restaurant should be your top pick. Babylon also offers one of the best halal foods in Yerevan.
Find the perfect harmony between food and service in this unique restaurant, which offers the best combination of delicious Iraqi cuisine, live music, excellent service, and a lovely ambiance for a guaranteed fine dining experience in Yerevan.
The restaurant has the best variety of Middle Eastern cuisine in Yerevan such as beef kebab with eggplant covered in cheese and served in lavash, tabbouleh, dolma, and delicious desserts, all at reasonable prices.
The key highlight is in the details that make up this unique interior and make you feel like you are dining in the legendary city of Babylon.
The restaurant also has an outside area for those who love taking in the fresh air and watching passers-by while enjoying their meal.
Address: 91 Pavstos Buzand St, Yerevan
16. Vostan
Experience the real Armenian heritage in Vostan, which is located in the heart of Yerevan. Top-notch service, charming atmosphere, and delicious Armenian cuisine with all its gems will certainly make you want to revisit.
One of its attractive features is definitely the old building and the embellished front door, which can’t make locals and visitors alike indifferently pass by.
I recommend trying barbecue assortment, grilled sterlet, and Bulgarian pilaf served with qyufta.
The restaurant has outdoor and indoor areas where the authentic rustic style and a cozy atmosphere will guarantee perfect family or friend gatherings.
Armenian-style old wooden balconies enhance the outdoor sitting area; meanwhile, the middle part features apricot trees, real Armenian tonir, and benches.
The inside has a huge wine wall with the finest wines and a bakery area behind a transparent wall where you can witness how freshly baked Armenian bread and lavash are made.
Address: 8 Abovyan St, Yerevan
17. Dargett Brewpub
Okay, so I know this is a restaurant guide, but it would be remiss of me to ignore a craft brewery as sometimes I end up accidentally ‘eating’ beer as a meal. But seriously, the food here is pretty good for a brewery in Yerevan.
At Dargett, you can find international cuisine in Yerevan. The chef offers daily specials, including spicy macaroni and cheese. I ordered that with a beer, and the rest is history.
I went back there again a few times and I was bored and stuck with French fries, but it was tasty and the beer was consistently good. I highly recommend the Vertigo IPA.
If you’re a beer lover, definitely add Dargett to your list of restaurants in Yerevan to check out on your next trip. Click here to check out the best beer in Yerevan.
I also suggest attending the annual Yerevan Beer Festival, which happens in summer. You can try local craft beers and enjoy good food and music.

The last one on this list offers Armenian and European cuisine in the middle of Yerevan. Friendly and professional staff, a lovely ambiance, and quality meals create the ideal atmosphere for relaxed evening gatherings.
Yasaman’s unique interior, with its gorgeous paintings, colorful puffy chairs, and vibrant dishes, will certainly catch everyone’s eye.
I offer you to try black rice with shrimp, aveluk salad, tolma, Italian burrata salad, and carrot cake for getting the real taste of chefs’ unique approach to every meal.
The kitchen is open, so everyone can witness the process of making those masterpieces. All in all, Yasaman offers the most aesthetic environment, and your perfect evenings with a view will be guaranteed.

Part of the group of restaurants by Yeremyan known as Tavern Yerevan, this Pandok location is situated by the Hrazdan River and has several outdoor pavilions where you can enjoy the Yerevan nature at the same time as you eat traditional Armenian khash, drink, and socialize.
The Yerevan restaurant is located in the city but it is far enough away from the hustle and bustle that you’ll feel like you’ve escaped to the Armenian countryside.
